Johnson discusses what he’s picked up from Arn Anderson and Julia Hart.
It is coming up on five years of Lee Johnson being on the AEW talent roster. Johnson regularly competes on ROH on HonorClub.
His wife is former TBS Champion Julia Hart. Her name became a talking point during Lee’s appearance on Ruthless Talk. He shared that she’s helped him a lot with promo work.
We (myself & Julia Hart) have mixed it up a few times… She’s amazing at promos. So my wife has helped me a lot with promo work and things like that. You take from that. She’s just amazing.
There was a point during Johnson’s run in AEW when he was a part of the Nightmare Family. Johnson was managed by Arn Anderson and eventually went on to form a team with Brock Anderson. He stated that he learned a lot from both of them.
I think with Arn (Anderson), working with him every single week, one thing I took was just constantly improving. But, it’s not improving on big things. It’s every match, get better at a little something so, he would actually help me put (together) some of my earlier matches and he would just take one thing that I wanted to do and he would change it. Actually, when he first started to manage me, he told me, ‘Find three of your favorite matches that you’ve had here and you and I are gonna sit down, we’re gonna watch ‘em and I’m gonna tell you what I think.’ But he didn’t tell me what he thought. Because I’m sure he thought a lot (Johnson laughed). So, I think it was having that. It was having someone in his position that had been where he’d been just tell you, like, ‘This is the things that you need you to focus on. These little things.’ As a wrestler, your mind is so caught up on the big things. You think about every big thing that you have to do but you don’t take a second to think about the smaller things that are gonna make the matches more important like the facial expressions that you mentioned. Those things and obviously, you can’t really fake that. You really feel that. But those are things that you have to focus on, you have to work on it. He really touched at home with me. I mean, teaming with his son as well. He did the same thing for his son. ‘Just focus on these little things.’ Honestly, I learned a lot from Brock (Anderson) as well. Obviously, him being an Anderson, there was a lot of insight that he had so, yeah, both of them. Arn’s just amazing.
Circling back to Julia Hart, she last competed at the Dynasty pay-per-view in April. She underwent shoulder surgery, but said during a media appearance in October that she’s waiting on the call from AEW to come back.
