Page did not want to join the promotion because of past issues with the promoter.

One of the heavily promoted storylines in Game Changer Wrestling was Rickey Shane Page versus Nick Gage. The two talents clashed on five different occasions in a mix of singles and tag matches with the GCW World Title being the centerpiece of their rivalry.

Initially, Shane Page was not interested in coming to GCW and that information was shared by Gage during his appearance on Blvd Bullies

Gage stated that due to prior issues with GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale, Shane Page did not want to come to the promotion. It took Gage a year of convincing before Shane Page gave in.

The Rickey Shane Page (feud in GCW) was really well-done. Very well-done and at the time, GCW was just booking matches, if you ever noticed it. It was really no storylines.

Want me to give you a little background with that? So, Rickey was a tough one. He did not want to come to GCW. There was heat between him and Brett (Lauderdale) and I begged him for — I didn’t beg him but, I kept bringing it up to him for a whole year and I let him know, ‘It’s not about the heat you have with Lauderdale. It’s the atmosphere at GCW. It’s the fans. It’s gonna be how awesome the match is gonna be with us, the feud and everything like that.’ That’s what I sold him on and finally, he said yes after a year. I would see him at AIW, and I would just keep pitching it to him, pitching it to him till he said yes, and remember, he came in with the mask, bust me with the tubes…

Present-day, Shane Page nor Gage are working with GCW. To read Gage’s reasons for no longer being with the promotion, head over to this link.
