Trios Match

AEW Rampage kicked off by diving directly into the action, seeing The Butcher, JD Drake, and BEEF taking on LFI’s Dralistico, Rush, and The Beast Mortos. The action was fast and furious as one might expect, with impressive physical feats from some large competitors.

Rampage seems to be the BEEF show lately with him filling in for the injured Anthony Henry and the crowd seems to be getting behind him as well.

In the end, Rush hit the Bull’s Horns on The Butcher and LFI got the win.

Stokely Talks Private Party

Stokely Hathaway claimed that he was the architect of Private Party’s Tag Team Championship win.

Taya Valykrie vs. Zoey Lynn

Next up, Taya Valkyrie (accompanied by Deonna Purrazzo) took on Zoey Lynn. Taya won in under a minute with a modified Curb Stomp.

After the match, Renee Paquette intercepted Valkyrie and Purrazzo as they were coming to the back and Stokely Hathaway interrupted and said that Zoey Lynn was telling everyone backstage that all Taya & Deonna do is “eat meatballs and talk”. This convinced Taya to go back out and beat down Lynn until Deonna finally stopped her.

Queen Aminata vs. Leila Grey

The next match was Queen Aminata taking on Top Flight’s Leila Grey. This was Leila Grey’s best performance in memory and this match was intense.

In the end, Leila Grey tapped out to a crazy-looking hold by Aminata.

Top Flight & Action Andretti vs. Dark Order

This match came directly out of Leila Grey’s loss with the partners crossing paths on the ramp.

The story here was the ongoing anger issues for Action Andretti. He could be seen visibly angry after not being able to score the pinfall. Finally, things boiled over as Andretti tried to rip off Alex Reynolds’ rib tape and Dante Martin stopped him, shoving him.

Andretti finally got the tape off, focused on the ribs, and hit a split-legged moonsault for the win. All six men argued in the ring before finally shaking hands.

Lio Rush vs. Komander

Just like the match before it, this match seamlessly transitioned from the last with Lio Rush interacting with Top Flight and Action on their way to the back.

This was a physical match more than a super high-flying match, seemingly fitting in with the aggressive theme of the night. Komander picked up the win after his rope walk moonsault. After the match, Komander and Lio Rush shook hands. Top Flight and Action Andretti met Lio Rush on the ramp and Andretti handed Rush Alex Reynolds’ rib tape, hinting that Rush could also be skewing heel soon along with Andretti.

Komander goes on to face Kyle Fletcher tomorrow night on Collision.

Final Thoughts

Even though the crowd didn’t fully get into it, Leila Grey and Queen Aminata put on a great short match that is worth checking out. Other than that, the rest of the matches were good to very good and there were a few storyline beats that have been sorely lacking from previous weeks. While this episode is still skippable, it was more enjoyable than recent episodes for sure.
