Whether or not it’s untimely, New Day’s 10th anniversary as a WWE tag team is right around the corner.
The trio of Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston made their initial in-ring TV debut on November 28, 2014, making their decade-long milestone just days away.
It hasn’t been going swimmingly for the group as of late. Woods and Kingston haven’t been on the same page in recent weeks, and they have come up unsuccessful against teams recently because of their communication issues.
But you only get one 10th anniversary, and Monday Night Raw General Manager Adam Pierce wants to make the best of it. He approached Kingston backstage this week to announce his plan to dedicate an entire episode of Raw to them.
“Well, I wanted to talk to both of you, but anyway, you’re here,” said Pierce, after questioning why Woods wasn’t with him. “This year: 10 years as New Day. It’s time to celebrate, man. You guys are one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history. Because of that, if it’s cool with you guys, I wanted to dedicate a special episode of Raw to celebrating you.”
Woods didn’t seem overly thrilled but looked toward the situation as a possible way to help the group get back on track: “I feel like when this anniversary comes around, everything’s gonna be alright.”
Pierce said he would begin making the plans. It hasn’t been announced when Raw plans to officially celebrate the group.
