Marko Stunt: Killswitch (Luchasaurus) & Jack Perry ‘pushed for me like crazy’ in AEW

The first interview with Stunt post-retirement.

After a nine-year run as a pro wrestler, Marko Stunt wrapped up his in-ring career. He released a statement on his social media pages and noted that after consulting with his doctors, he was advised to step away from performing in the ring.

His first media appearance post-retirement was a chat with Pluggo of Love Wrestling. The conversation shifted over to his time in AEW as a member of Jurassic Express with Jack Perry and Killswitch (Luchasaurus). Stunt remembers when Killswitch got injured prior to the third episode of Dynamite where Jurassic Express was scheduled for tag action against The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fénix).

He shared that Killswitch advocated for him to fill that vacant spot. Stunt said Killswitch was a protector on and off-screen. He added that both him and Perry ‘pushed for him like crazy.’ They’re all still in contact and they reached out to Marko after he announced his retirement.

I think immediately, my mind goes to the match where Luchasaurus got hurt… and it ended up being me and Jack (Perry) versus The Lucha Brothers. That was a huge night for me. There’s always gonna be those negative comments and stuff and that happens but, the amount of love and support that I got after that night, it felt like something turned around for a minute there and to be honest, the reason behind that has a lot to do with Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus, both on-screen and off-screen, literally, he’s like a protector. No work or anything. He looked out for me. He was always one of the ones — him and Jack both — but Luchasaurus was one of the main ones that made that tag match happen. He’s like, ‘No. Let Marko do it,’ and dude, man, what could have been with Luchasaurus?

I say this biasedly and I can’t imagine how many people are gonna disagree, but I firmly believe that we are — we were one of the most dynamic groups in all of wrestling… I still think there could be something there, but that’s just my brain goes into creative mode all the time… Luchasaurus is a big reason for a lot of the stuff that I did. Him and Jack pushed for me like crazy. Everybody says we were Jurassic — they were Jurassic Express. They were Jurassic Express and I was with Jurassic Express. I was lucky to be with Jurassic Express. I loved being with Jurassic Express.

I mean, we’re actual friends. It worked out to be able to go out there, and just as friends, go out there and be a team because we’re already a team behind the scenes so it’s easier to be a team on-screen and I still talk to both of them, like quite frequently. They both reached out after I made the post and everything, and I talked to Luchasaurus for probably an hour on the phone, and it was a very good conversation.

Continuing on that front, Stunt revealed another name that reached out to him after his retirement post: Vice President of Global Talent Development at WWE, William Regal.

William Regal reached out to me after I posted everything and he sent me a long message and I thanked him and everything… The last thing he said was, ‘No need to thank me. If there had not been somebody to guide me at 16 years old, I wouldn’t have been able to do the same thing for you. So, pass it along,’ and that’s what I wanna do. That’s what I wanna do…

Stunt’s final match was over the summer on AEW Collision. He challenged Jack Perry for the TNT Championship
