For one week only, NXT returned to Wednesday night with an ECW-themed show and topped AEW Dynamite in the key viewership metrics.
Due to CW Network’s coverage of the U.S. Election on Tuesday, NXT was moved and aired head-to-head with AEW Dynamite for the second time over the past month.
Wednesday’s edition of NXT from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia averaged 619,000 viewers and 228,000 (0.17) in the 18-49 demographic on CW while AEW Dynamite attracted 523,000 viewers and 215,000 (0.16) in the demographic on TBS, per Programming Insider & Wrestlenomics.
Despite moving to the unfamiliar night, NXT increased its audience by 5% and grew its demo audience by 25% from last Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dynamite experienced a 17% drop in viewers and a 16% loss among the core demo to its lowest figures since June 19, 2024. Dynamite also had a nine-minute overrun segment.
In the 18-49 demographic, NXT won among male viewers by a margin of 73,000 to 60,000 for Dynamite. However, among female viewers in the demo, the shows were tied with 155,000 viewers each.
Both shows aired against the Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics, which topped all cable programming with 2,140,000 viewers and 0.64 in the demo on ESPN. Dynamite ranked sixth among prime-time cable programming behind the NBA, three Fox News shows, and The Challenge on MTV.
In Canada, NXT averaged 83,600 viewers and 33,500 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360, while Dynamite averaged 80,400 viewers and 39,700 in the demo on TSN 2. NXT ranked #8 among sports programs for the night, while Dynamite ranked #9.
Last month, AEW Dynamite moved nights and aired against NXT on October 8 with Dynamite averaging 329,000 viewers and 0.10 in the 18-49 demo against an episode of NXT featuring Randy Orton with 874,000 viewers and 0.24 in the demo.
