Storm and Kamille chat their roles.

In October, the ‘Queen of the Ring’ movie released in the USA. The film is about the first-ever NWA World Women’s Champion Mildred Burke.

Among those starring in the film are Kamille, Toni Storm, Trinity Fatu (Naomi) and Britt Baker. While at a red carpet event for the movie’s release, Jim Varsallone caught up with Storm and Kamille. They both spoke about being a part of the film.

Storm: It was such a pleasure (being part of the Queen of the Ring movie). It really was. It meant a lot to me because it was about Mildred Burke, who was a pioneer of the business that I’m involved in, the business that I love so much so it was such an honor so, I can’t believe this is happening.

Kamille: One, it was just an honor because while we were filming it, I was holding the Burke as NWA Champion and the character I’m playing, June (Byers), I surpassed her reign as I was playing her so, I think it was a bit of serendipity there. As far as the acting experience, it was so funny because in wrestling, we’re playing to the people in the cheap seats. Everything’s big and loud and huge and so I was figuring out how to take that emotion, but bringing it into the camera right here and so, that was definitely a learning curve and a learning experience but I’m excited to see everybody see me do something different.

During the chat with Kamille, she detailed how she got her role as June Byers and stated that she initially sent in pictures just to do stunt work.

I guess some complications happened with the original casting and so people got pulled and so I had actually sent in pictures for stunt work, like long, long time ago because Taryn Terrell, she does stunts and stuff and she was just like, ‘Hey! I know you’re interested in maybe doing some stunts. There’s a movie filming.’ At that time, we were in Tennessee and it was filming in Louisville and so, I didn’t hear anything, whatever, I forgot about it and one night she texts me and she’s like, ‘Hey, they want you to come in and audition for this role’ and I was like, ‘What role?’ I didn’t know what she was talking about and then, now we’re here.

Kamille and Storm are signed to All Elite Wrestling. Storm has not been present on AEW programming since her storyline with Mariah May reached its climax.

Kamille is paired with TBS and NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné. They brawled with Kris Statlander on the latest edition of Dynamite.
