WWE Women’s US Title tournament begins on Friday’s SmackDown

The race to become the first WWE Women’s United States Champion starts tonight.

WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis posted a video to social media to announce the first match in the tournament for the new title.

It will be a triple-threat match featuring Candice LeRae, Bayley, and B-Fab.

Also newly announced for tonight’s broadcast is WWE Champion Cody Rhodes opening the show.

Aldis said:

It is a big, big night, ladies and gentlemen. The main event: Nia Jax defending the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi.

And we’re kicking off our tournament to crown the new United States Women’s Champion with a triple-threat match between Candice LeRae, Bayley, and B-Fab.

But tonight, we’re kicking off SmackDown with the American Nightmare and the WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. See you there.

Tonight’s SmackDown emanates from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
