Tony Khan addresses WWE ID program, Ricky Starks & Kenny Omega’s absence from AEW programming

Khan’s solo scrum session.

Wrapping up the AEW Full Gear media scrum was company President Tony Khan fielding questions alongside Renee Paquette.

One of the questions asked had to do with WWE’s I.D. program and how that could affect how Khan brings wrestlers from the indies into AEW. He stated that they’ve signed a lot of free agents and expect to continue doing so. WWE’s program has yet to create any major conflicts. He thinks it’ll influence the indie scene and it’s something to keep an eye on.

Elsewhere in the scrum, he was asked about Ricky Starks and Kenny Omega’s absences from AEW TV. Starks is working independent dates and has not been on television since March. Omega made his return in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and is scheduled to face Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty in January. Khan responded by saying keep an eye on the future.

Here are more notes from the session:

  • He said each time Jon Moxley has had the AEW World Title, it has helped the company
  • Khan says Danielson is probably his best friend in the whole world
  • He’ll continue using ‘November Rain’ by Guns N’ Roses for the remainder of the month. It’ll remain in the AEW library
  • He says they’re excited to have Adam Copeland back hopefully in the near future
  • He has an idea for 2025 to use something ‘pretty out there’ from the 80s.
  • Speaking about differences between Sting and Bryan Danielson’s retirements, Sting is never coming back to wrestle. He never said Danielson won’t be back and hopes he’ll return
