NXT Deadline notes: New Year’s Evil taking place in Los Angeles, Trick Williams retains, Tiffany Stratton appears

It was unveiled that the first NXT of 2025 will be New Year’s Evil on January 7th. The show is going to emanate from Los Angeles, California. It’ll take place the night after the WWE Raw on Netflix debut from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

Trick Williams bested Ridge Holland to retain his NXT Championship. It was the third successful defense of Williams’ second NXT Title reign.

Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton appeared during a backstage segment with interviewer Sarah Schreiber and General Manager, Ava. Stratton inquired about the NXT Women’s Title match at New Year’s Evil that’ll see Roxanne Perez defending against Giulia.

There were three additions to the 12/10 NXT on CW. Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge winner Oba Femi is going to address the audience on the road to his NXT Title match against Trick Williams at New Year’s Evil. The following matches were made official for the program: 

  • Wes Lee vs. Je’Von Evans
  • Gigi Dolin & Tatum Paxley vs. Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx (w/ Fallon Henley)

The duo of Nathan Frazer & Axiom successfully defended their NXT Tag Team Championships against No Quarter Catch Crew’s Tavion Heights and Myles Borne. In the show opener, Frazer competed in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge. There was a point during the tag match when O.T.M. (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) came to ringside, but they were ejected. 

Lola Vice is now 3-0 in NXT Underground matches after defeating Jaida Parker at Deadline via referee stoppage. Vice has beaten Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Parker in the aforementioned match type.
