Closing out the 12/17 installment of NXT on CW was Trick Williams defending the NXT Championship against Eddy Thorpe. Towards the conclusion of the bout, referee Adrian Butler was knocked down and following that, Williams hit his ‘Trick Shot’ finisher onto Thorpe. Coming out to make the count was fellow referee Derek Sanders. Williams fell on top of Thorpe, but his shoulders were also on the mat. Butler made his way back into the ring and both officials counted to three. General Manager Ava joined the fray to get some clarification about the end result.
There was a segment with Ethan Page stating that he lost his smile after the downward trajectory that he’s been on. NXT emanated from Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts. That is the same venue where NXT overseer Shawn Michaels’ ‘I lost my smile’ segment took place in February 1997. Je’Von Evans joined Page in the ring to give him some encouragement, but Page attacked him. He placed a chair around Evans’ neck and stepped on it. When he did that, blood came flying out of Evans’ mouth.
NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom successfully defended their titles against Gallus’ Mark Coffey and Wolfgang.
Scheduled for the 12/24 program are the following bouts:
- NXT Heritage Cup: Charlie Dempsey (c) vs. Lexis King
- Stephanie Vaquer vs. Cora Jade
- Fatal 4-Way Tag Match — Winners get shot at NXT Tag Team Titles: No Quarter Catch Crew (Tavion Heights & Myles Borne) vs. Hank & Tank vs. The D’Angelo Family (Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo & Luca Crusifino) vs. O.T.M. (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price)
The duo of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn appeared in a backstage segment. They made light of the dynamic between Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx) and compared it to the comradery that Shotzi, Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley have.
