ROH Final Battle notes: Athena’s title reign continues, John Silver competes with an injury, Red Velvet’s special entrance

The main event of ROH Final Battle was the Women’s World Championship match between Athena and Billie Starkz. Athena went into the bout with two years under her belt as the champion. Lexy Nair, who’s the third piece of the storyline, did the ring introduction for Athena. Starkz’s parents were ringside and Athena trash-talked them several times. The conclusion of the bout saw Starkz run into an exposed turnbuckle, which was followed-up by Athena hitting the O-Face to retain.

During the Zero Hour pre-show, Dark Order (John Silver & Alex Reynolds) took on Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake). Commentator Ian Riccaboni stated that Silver is dealing with a torn hamstring. Coming out of the match victorious were James and Gibson.

For Red Velvet’s defense of the Women’s World Television Title against Leyla Hirsch, she got a special entrance as her theme was performed by the artist who made it. Velvet retained over Hirsch after going underneath the ring to get a physical turnbuckle. That was used to distract referee Paul Turner. Velvet then pulled a wrench from her trunks and struck Hirsch.

Circling back to the Zero Hour, following a tag match that saw Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeat Lee Johnson and E.J. Nduka, the losing team blindside-attacked Gates of Agony as they were trying to show respect.
