Tony Khan AEW Worlds End media call notes: Jaime Hawn, Ricky Starks, women’s Continental Classic

Highlights from the call.

AEW’s final pay-per-view of 2024 is Worlds End on December 28th in Orlando, Florida. Going into the show, AEW President Tony Khan hosted a media call and fielded questions pertaining to AEW and the upcoming pay-per-view.

Below are highlights: 

  • On the topic of Ricky Starks and if he’ll be returning to AEW, Tony Khan stated that fans will have to stay tuned for who will be involved with AEW’s future and that ‘remains to be seen.’
  • With AEW Rampage going away, Khan was asked if he thinks there will be roster cuts. He said it was a fair question, but he could not answer right now on how they plan to navigate that.
  • Khan was asked about getting viewership data from Warner Bros. Discovery for the TBS/HBO Max simulcast on January 1st. He doesn’t think he would get the same amount of information about viewership from Max as he does from traditional cable. He hopes to get good data and insight for himself and for the media.
  • Khan could not speak to any of the allegations about AEW management from Jaime Hawn.
  • Speaking about the change in format for the Continental Classic, Khan felt it would add to the PPV and add another positive aspect to the tournament.
  • On the topic of a women’s Continental Classic, Khan stated that the division is strong and there is potential to do it. He added that scheduling is an issue as are injuries.
  • Khan spoke about the new Canadian TV deals. They had multiple great offers and interest. Khan said the deal they signed was what they liked better which was the option of staying with TSN.
