Yota Tsuji captures IWGP Global Heavyweight Title at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19, defending against Jack Perry at Wrestle Dynasty

Jack Perry is awaiting Tsuji.

The eighth bout at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 was the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship match that saw David Finlay put the title on the line against Yota Tsuji.

Finlay was in the midst of his second reign with the belt and the match against Tsuji was the fifth defense of that reign.

Finlay’s reign clocked out at 245 days as Tsuji connected with The Gene Blaster finisher to put him away and win his first singles title in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Next up for Tsuji is the Wrestle Dynasty show at the Tokyo Dome on January 5th that is co-promoted by NJPW, AEW, STARDOM, Ring of Honor and CMLL. He’ll be defending his newly won title against Jack Perry. At the Wrestle Dynasty press conference, Tsuji said if he were to defeat Finlay, he wanted to defend the belt against Perry.

The two talents crossed paths in December at NJPW Strong Style Evolved in a tag match. As for David Finlay, he’ll be facing Brody King at Wrestle Dynasty.
