Kenny Omega has competed in his first match in over a year, defeating Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty.
Omega had been sidelined from in-ring action since December 2023, when he was diagnosed with diverticulitis.
The Canadian looked in tremendous physical shape, and participated in an extremely physical match with Kidd, taking numerous heavy bumps right from the beginning.
Mid-match, Omega began to sell his abdomen, the area affected by his battle with diverticulitis.
In a big spot, and to a mixed crowd reaction, Omega power-bombed Kidd through a table at ringside. Kidd emerged with blood flowing but the match continued and escalated with both men exchanging chair shots.
After Omega took his own trip through a table, he also emerged bloodied as Kidd threw multiple chairs into the ring. Omega soon took a superplex into the chairs.
Both men then exchanged unprotected chair shots to the head.
Omega’s abdomen looked to fail him as he could not hoist Kidd for the One Winged Angel. Kidd then hit a pair of piledrivers but the pin was halted when Omega got his foot on the rope.
Thirty minutes had passed when Kidd kicked out at one after another V-trigger, but Omega finally then hit the One Winged Angel for the win.
Hiroshi Tanahashi was shown in tears after the match ended.
