Punk takes the stage after the win.
The main event of the first edition of Monday Night Raw on Netflix was CM Punk versus Seth Rollins. Punk put Rollins away after hitting him with two G.T.S. finishers.
Afterwards, Punk took the stage for the post-show press conference. He shared that one of the bittersweet parts about where he’s at in his career at 46 years of age is that he’s just starting to understand the business, but his body is falling apart.
I don’t want people to focus on the words, ‘My body is falling apart.’ I want people to understand that I am 46 years old and the part of the business that is just so bittersweet is because I’m just now starting to understand it, and my body is falling apart. But, my mind has never been sharper. I think tearing my triceps — for eight minutes by myself in (a) Tampa or Orlando hotel, crying my eyes out before I got the guts to call my wife and tell her I was hurt. I felt sorry for myself and I said, ‘This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.’ I don’t know if that’s true because some pretty bad stuff has happened to me. But, I told myself I was gonna make it the best thing that ever happened to me and I think I did. I made it such a speedbump. I was still on TV, I was in the mix, I was in a sling in front of everybody and really took the lemons that life gave me and I turned it gold. So, yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever been better. I think that was one of the career years for me and I think 2025, my goal is to obviously top what I did in 2024.
Other highlights from Punk’s presser session are listed as follows:
- He is focused on securing championship gold in 2025, but is not against working with either The Rock or John Cena. He feels those types of situations make him come alive.
- Punk does not think headlining WrestleMania is the end-all be-all for him. He said he could’ve had a Hall of Fame career even if he never came back to WWE.
- He said Seth Rollins is a killer. Punk feels Rollins does not need to act or dress the way he does. He added that the Rollins he faced and went back-and-forth with on the microphone the week prior is what he wants to see. Punk feels he brings the best out of the people he’s in the ring with.
