King officially becomes the Cup holder.
The rematch between Lexis King and Charlie Dempsey for the NXT Heritage Cup took place at New Year’s Evil. Their first go-round resulted in King being crowned the Cup holder after a finish that involved William Regal.
Because of the way the match ended, General Manager Ava declared that King’s win did not count and the Cup was returned to Dempsey.
The two talents met again at New Year’s Evil in a Sudden Death Rules Heritage Cup match. The finish saw Dempsey go for a leapfrog, but King’s head connected with Dempsey’s pelvis area and it caused an inadvertent low blow. King went on to hit his finisher to get the win.
King is now officially the NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
