A professional wrestling horror story featuring a familiar face will be heading to streaming later this month.
“Dark Match,” a feature film which sees a small wrestling promotion find themselves in a life-or-death situation once coming into contact with a cult leader, is set to be released on January 31 via horror-focused streamer Shudder.
The movie has AEW talent Chris Jericho play the role of Prophet, an antagonist who seeks to sacrifice wrestlers as part of his set-up event in a “backwoods town.”
“People told me that pro wrestling was fake,” Jericho says as Prophet in the movie’s trailer. “Pro wrestling was about sacrifice. Only one walks away.”
The film, directed by Lowell Dean, was shot in Edmonton, Alberta and produced by Canadian production company Dept. 9 Studios.
