NJPW Young Lion Shoma Kato will miss the rest of the promotion’s New Beginning tour due to injury.
The promotion announced Wednesday that 22-year-old Kato has suffered a dislocated fracture of his right ankle, forcing him to miss dates within the promotion until at least mid-February. No timetable has been listed for his return yet.
Kato has been an active member of NJPW’s Young Lion squad since making his debut in late 2023. He worked six matches earlier this month, with his most recent appearance seeing him win alongside Master Wato against Daiki Nagai and Katsuya Murashima on Sunday.
NJPW also announced this week that Young Lion Masatora Yasuda, who was pulled from the promotion’s schedule in November due to injury, has now been placed back onto the active roster and will finish up the New Beginning tour, which has nine more events.
NJPW The New Beginning 2025 tour will return on Thursday with a card from Sendai.
