Adam Copeland got his wish.

“The Rated R Superstar” will receive an AEW World Championship opportunity next month when he faces Jon Moxley at the promotion’s Revolution pay-per-view.

The matchup, which is the first addition to AEW’s March 9th show from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, was revealed on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.

After he stole a briefcase from Moxley which it was assumed carries the AEW World Championship, Copeland threatened to break it open. However, he provided Moxley with one stipulation that would prevent him from doing such action: Giving him a world title shot, just like he had previously requested.

Moxley finally granted Copeland’s wish, calling for a match as part of Revolution in a little under a month’s time. Copeland then went forward with attempting to break open the briefcase anyway, causing a brawl to close out Dynamite.

The upcoming booking sees Copeland challenge for the AEW World Championship for the first time since joining the promotion in 2023. He has previously held the TNT Championship twice, including a 70-day reign in 2024.

Moxley will be making his third PPV appearance since defeating Bryan Danielson to become champ in October. Past victories as champ saw him get past Orange Cassidy in a singles bout and Adam Page, Jay White, and Cassidy as part of a four-way match.

Before Moxley and Copeland meet in March, the duo are expected to collide as part of Saturday’s Grand Slam: Australia card in Brisbane. Copeland will team alongside Jay White to face Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli in a “Brisbane Brawl.”

Revolution is already expecting a crowd of at least 6,600, per the latest WrestleTix estimate.
