For two decades, Tony Chimel was a part of the WWE and he is most often linked to his time as the ring announcer for SmackDown.
One of the highlights from Chimel’s run as an announcer was how he introduced ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Adam Copeland a.k.a. Edge.
He spoke about that during his appearance on Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas’ HUGE POP! podcast. Chimel remembered Copeland approaching him about his introductions and expressing that he wanted the same effort put into his intro that Chimel put into John Cena’s.
I would do the, ‘Johnnnn Cena’ stuff and Edge came to me, you know… Yeah, yeah (he was hot about it). He’s like, ‘Man, you put all this emphasis on Johnnnn Cena and stuff. How about something for me, you know?’ And he was the Rated-R Suuuperstar so, I think Super Crazy was long gone by then. So, I started doing the Suuuperstar for him…
