AEW’s Buddy Matthews has suffered a setback following the promotion’s debut event in Australia.

Matthews reportedly sustained an ankle injury during his appearance against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam: Australia, per PWInsider. No details on the severity of his injury or how long he could be out of action are known at the moment.

Many have suspected over the past couple of days that Matthews tweaked his foot in some way, mainly due to a fan video of the event showing him landing awkwardly on his left ankle during an entrance.

Matthews went on to work a 13-minute match with AEW Continental Champion Okada, coming up short in the end.

An Instagram update shared by Matthews and WWE’s Rhea Ripley on Monday included a photo of the AEW talent using a crutch to help himself get around.

“Ain’t no Roly-Poly ankles gonna keep us down! Let the honeymoon commence!” the couple captioned their post.
