Raj Dhesi has been enjoying the freedom of being a freelancer. Since departing the WWE roster last June, ending his run as Jinder Mahal, Dhesi has appeared all around the wrestling world.
GCW in the U.S., Maple Leaf Pro in Canada, AAA in Mexico, and APC in France are just a few of the many spots that Dhesi has graced over the past eight months.
Dhesi is “just enjoying myself,” as he stated in a recent interview with Monopoly Events. But does he still have the desire to compete in a major touring brand, like WWE or AEW?
“As far as signing with another major promotion, everything would have to be right,” he explained in a recent interview. “Storyline, business would have to make sense because I’m in a great spot. I had a great career in WWE. I’m happy with everything I accomplished. And if that’s everything that I ever do, I’m more than satisfied, more than happy with it. I’m into business outside of WWE, I just filmed a movie last week. Yeah, I’m just excited to have the freedom and I just do whatever makes me happy.”
When asked if AEW has approached him before, Dhesi explained that nothing “on an official level” has happened yet.
Dhesi was a busy man while in the WWE. In particular, his run from 2017 to 2018 saw him work more than 300 matches for the company. That’s not so much how WWE operates nowadays, with a significantly scaled-back approach to non-televised live events. Dhesi recently reflected on the schedule he worked under back then.
“The WWE schedule right now, I wish we would’ve had this schedule now [back then] with less emphasis on live events because we were worked pretty, pretty heavily. Our schedules were quite intensive with live events in the United States, North America, and also coming overseas quite a bit, all over the world.”
