
AEW’s presentation of Grand Slam Australia following the NBA All-Star Weekend coverage led to a major spike in viewership.
The taped special from Brisbane averaged 502,000 viewers and 275,000 viewers (0.21) in the 18-49 demographic on TNT, the show’s largest figures of the year and highest since December 21 when it aired immediately after a college football game between Clemson and Texas.
Grand Slam Australia followed TNT’s coverage of NBA All-Star Weekend with a lead-in of 2,998,000 viewers and a 1.02 rating in the 18-49 demographic. AEW began airing at 10:52 p.m. ET with the first eight minutes of the show averaging more than one million viewers and 512,000 in the demo, per Wrestlenomics.
There were declines throughout the rest of the program including a 35% viewership drop between 11 and 11:15 p.m. ET.
The show’s overall viewership grew by 30% over the previous week’s episode of Collision but its youngest demos saw even larger growth.
In the 18-49 demographic, they averaged 275,000 viewers, doubling the previous week’s figures with males growing from 92,000 last week to 186,000 and females going from 37,000 to 89,000.
The 18-34 demographic experienced a major increase from 37,000 viewers last week to 122,000 this week.
Adults 35-54 increased by 52% this week with 153,000 viewers.
