The tryout no longer needed to happen because of William Regal.
Guest appearing on the newest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet was Ludwig Kaiser. It was eight years ago that Kaiser first joined WWE and present-day, he’s a member of the Monday Night Raw roster.
He looked back at his start with the company and shared that there was a talent search in Germany that was supposed to take place. WWE was heading overseas and while there, they would scout talent. Kaiser blew his knee out a few weeks prior.
He went on to share that William Regal saw his name on the list of talents that would be looked at during the tour and Regal told WWE told hold off on the search because Ludwig is the guy.
The story that I’ve heard is that WWE was looking for a German wrestler and they scheduled a tour through Germany to look at talent and go through all the different wrestling schools and stuff and apparently, Mr. William Regal, who I’m always going to be grateful for that, saw my name on the list and he knew my dad and they saw my picture, they saw everything and he pointed out me and said, ‘Cancel the tour. We’ll take him.’ I was one of the guys — actually, I never had to do a tryout. Because I was supposed to do one, but two weeks, three weeks before, I blew my knee out. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to say that, I’m not sure if I ever said that. But yeah, I got injured and I had to cancel the tryout. So obviously, right in the match already, I thought, oh my God, this is over. Because when I first started this, I never thought I would go to WWE. It was not my big goal to be like, okay, gotta go to WWE or otherwise, this is all for nothing. No, I wanted to do my dad proud. I wanted to be a professional wrestler, I wanted to see the world, I wanted to do all of that. But now when you get the chance, you wanna do it.
Kaiser is involved in a storyline with Penta and Pete Dunne. The latest on that front unfolded on the 2/17 Monday Night Raw on Netflix.
