Their first singles match since 2019.
Korakuen Hall played host to Big Japan Pro Wrestling’s January 24th event. The show featured a singles match between Daisuke Sekimoto and NJPW’s Jeff Cobb.
It was their first singles match since 2019 when they wrestled in PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Cobb guest appeared on Great-O-Khan’s Royal Palace Life Radio and reflected on the 2025 bout against Sekimoto.
I mean, I’ll give him (Daisuke Sekimoto) respect. I’ll say san at the end of his name. Sekimoto-san. He’s definitely a legend in — not just professional wrestling but Japanese pro wrestling. A very big name and a very big Japanese man. He looks like a muscled up Spongebob Squarepants. So, it was an honor. I fought with him many times before. He came to America for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and we fought there… That was the first time I fought him and then we fought again at the All Together show and then we finally had a singles match in Japan for his company so I came in his company and I brought the power of the United Empire and I whooped his ass in front of his fans which is great… I like getting hit and I like hitting people so it was definitely fun to hit another big man in the face…
Cobb is going to be competing in the 2025 New Japan Cup tournament. He’ll face the winner of Tetsuya Naito versus fellow United Empire member Callum Newman.
