A “TKO Takeover” is heading to Kansas City, Missouri in April.
TKO Group Holdings will bundle together three events from their different entertainment branches for a trip to the T-Mobile Center in two months, as announced Wednesday.
On April 28 (Thursday), an event from the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will take place. Two nights later, a UFC Fight Night card will go down at the same venue. And on Monday, the T-Mobile Center will play host to WWE’s Raw.
The stretch of events, which is made in partnership with the Kansas City Sports Commission, is the first branded TKO Takeover. Terms of the deal aren’t known at the moment.
The recent announcement sees a previously mentioned TKO vision in action.
TKO COO Mark Shapiro has previously expressed interest in bringing both WWE and UFC events to a city as part of a package, as mentioned last year during a talk he gave for JPMorgan.
The bundling of WWE and UFC shows can now also feature bull riding, as TKO acquired PBR late last year as part of a three-billion dollar deal.
The paired-up events could work as a way to expand the company’s site fee acquisitions, something both the WWE and UFC sides of TKO have focused on heavily in recent years.
Shapiro has previously expressed interest in targeting site fees not just for Premium Live Event (PLE) WWE cards or top UFC events, but possibly everything the two brands have to offer.
“We’re going to start asking for those same incentive packages to bring Raw to town, to bring SmackDown to town, to bring our [UFC] Fight Nights to town,” Shapiro said last year.
The upcoming UFC Fight Night card will be the promotion’s first trip to Kansas City in two years. The promotion notably held an event in St. Louis last year as well.
Kansas City is a frequent stop in WWE’s TV tours, with the city last being visited for the 2024 Draft episode of Monday Night Raw.
