The high-stakes assignments don’t stop for Daniel Garcia
The incumbent TNT Champion will put his belt on the line once again this Saturday when he meets Lee Moriarty on AEW Collision, as announced Wednesday night.
The bout – which is being taped this evening in Sacramento, California – will be Garcia’s fifth title match on Collision this year.
Garcia has defended his title four times on TV since dethroning Jack Perry at Full Gear last year. Past wins have emerged against names like Mark Briscoe and Katsuyori Shibata.
Garcia went 15 minutes with Adam Cole on last weekend’s episode, although the match ended in a no-contest after Shane Taylor Promotions (including Moriarty) interfered and went after both wrestlers.
Moriarty, who currently holds the ROH Pure Championship, will look to add a second title to his collection in the upcoming match. He’ll be trying for a second time to win Garcia’s belt, notably losing in a three-way with Garcia and Kyle O’Reilly in late January.
It was also announced Wednesday that Momo Watanabe will work a singles match on Collision against Serena Deeb.
The bout will be Watanabe’s first AEW appearance since she won the International Women’s World Cup in early January, a victory which earned her a title shot against Mercedes Moné at Revolution on Sunday night.
Moné will be on commentary for the match, getting a glimpse at the opponent she’ll share the ring with in just a few days.
Here’s everything that has been announced for Saturday’s card thus far, including an appearance from Harley Cameron:
