Kicking off the show was Cena.
For the first time since attacking Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber and aligning with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, John Cena appeared on WWE programming on Raw from Brussels, Belgium.
He came out with his traditional gear and theme and the crowd showered him with boos in addition to ‘let’s go Cena’ and ‘Cena sucks’ chants. Cena stated that the crowd is making it easy for him because he’s been the victim of an abusive relationship with the crowd for 20 years. He feels they bullied him into being their puppet.
Cena then stated that he’s not a babyface or a heel, but he’s just a human being. He talked about constantly changing things up for the audience but it was never enough. He put his values on the line to make an important choice and all the audience(s) could think about is what do they get out of it, but no one bothered to ask how he felt.
The 16-time WWE World Champion said there’s no new look because the people in the crowd dress like him and not vice versa. He said there will be no new theme because it’s his voice on ‘My Time is Now’ and the crowd’s time is finally up and his time is now. He mentioned that the ‘let’s go Cena’ crowd is just as bad as the ‘Cena sucks’ crowd and brought up the invisible Cena joke that has not been funny for 15 years.
Out came Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes who defended the crowd against Cena’s claims. Cena called him ‘kid,’ but Rhodes interjected and said he’s not a kid, but he is the WWE Champion. Rhodes said the current version of Cena better not show up to their match at WrestleMania 41 because if he does, he’ll retire him early. Rhodes told him to go find the old version of Cena because he doesn’t want to face a ‘whiny b*tch.’
