Police Department shares additional details on Vince Steele’s death

The wrestling world is mourning the tragic death of Vince Steele, who died during an independent wrestling show on Sunday in New Jersey.

Steele was set to participate in a four-way match for Brii Combination Wrestling in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey when a medical emergency occurred.

POST Wrestling contacted the Ridgefield Park Police Department, and its police chief Joseph Rella responded with additional details regarding the incident.

Rella informed our outlet that patrol officers were dispatched after a medical call regarding Steele’s condition at the location of the show. It was unknown if he was breathing when the call was made and was believed he was suffering from a heart attack, according to the department.

When the patrol officers arrived, Steele was unconscious, and they began to administer CPR and used a defibrillator. An ambulance and ALS (Advanced Life Support) were dispatched from a local hospital and Steele was transported. Rella added that the precise time of death is not known at this time.

Bodyslam.net had reported that a witness at the show had stated that it took 45 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, but we could not confirm the length of time with the police department.

In a statement from Brii Combination Wrestling, they noted that the police department was on the scene “within minutes” but did not state when the ambulance arrived.

We are heartbroken to confirm the passing of Vince Steele, a beloved member of the BCW family. His passion, dedication, and larger-than-life presence left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him. During yesterday’s event, Vince suffered a medical emergency in the ring. We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Ridgefield Park Police Department, who were on the scene within minutes and immediately provided emergency medical assistance. Despite their rapid response and the best efforts of first responders, we tragically lost Vince. This is an unimaginable loss, and we ask for patience and respect as we process this tragedy. We will share more details in the coming days on how we plan to honor Vince’s incredible legacy. Rest easy Jurassic Juggernaut

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Vince Steele.
