A last-minute title match has been confirmed for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
TBS Champion Mercedes Moné will put her title on the line this evening against Billie Starkz, per an announcement made Wednesday afternoon.
A title meeting between Moné and Starkz has been building for weeks through backstage segments. When Moné defended her title against Momo Watanabe at AEW Revolution earlier this month, Starkz was seen taking notes during the bout.
While it was previously mentioned on AEW that Moné and Starkz would meet for the title, their matchup was only officially confirmed this afternoon.
Starkz has mainly been showcased in ROH since she officially signed with AEW. She has worked over 40 ROH bouts since 2023, including a brief reign last year as the ROH Women’s World Television Champion.
20-year-old Starkz is currently the understudy to Athena, who has carried the ROH Women’s World Championship for over 800 days.
Moné will be putting her title on the line for the 16th time since she first became champ last May. She’s coming back after her return to the indies last weekend, beating Indi Hartwell at House of Glory’s City of Dreamz show.
