A peculiar finish to a four-way #1 contenders match this week has given Kenny Omega a bigger challenge than expected at Dynasty.
Both Mike Bailey and Ricochet will challenge Omega for his AEW International Championship at the April 6 pay-per-view, facing off in a three-way contest.
The plan this week was for a four-way contest on Dynamite to determine Omega’s next opponent. Instead, a fast-paced 18-minute #1 contenders bout featuring Bailey, Ricochet, Mark Davis and Orange Cassidy caused AEW to land on a pair of challengers for the belt instead of just one.
The finish of the match saw Bailey apply a backslide pin attempt to Davis. However, as he went for the pin, Ricochet also joined in on the attempt, leveraging his legs on the ropes for the pinfall. After referee Bryce Remsburg counted to three, he made the call that both Ricochet and Bailey won the match.
Omega will be trying to fend off two potential first-timer AEW champions when he wrestles at Dynasty next month.
Ricochet, who debuted for AEW last summer at Wembley Stadium, is still chasing his first title in the promotion. He joined the race to face Omega after missing out on a world title shot recently, losing a #1 contenders match against Swerve Strickland.
Long-time independent wrestling vet Bailey made their AEW debut just last week, defeating The Beast Mortos in an opening round match for the #1 contenders tournament.
Here’s an updated look at the lineup for AEW Dynasty 2025:
- Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet vs. Mike Bailey (AEW International Championship) (Three-Way)
- Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland (AEW World Championship)
