AEW’s Tony Khan has teased that we’ll eventually get a payoff for Kamille’s mysterious departure from programming last year.
Former NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille debuted in AEW last year, quickly aligning herself as the muscle for TBS Champion Mercedes Moné.
However, by November of last year, things started falling apart for her. She parted ways with Moné on Dynamite, then was attacked backstage just a few days later. The attack, which they haven’t yet revealed who it was carried out by, took Kamille off TV.
Kamille hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since then. While she made a one-off appearance in ICW last month and played a role in the recently released film “Queen of the Ring,” there hasn’t been much to say about Kamille’s recent activities.
However, that could change soon. Khan spoke about her return in a recent interview, stating that when she comes back the story will be revisited.
“We don’t know who attacked Kamille,” Khan said during a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast. “The last time we saw her, she was attacked. We know she had a breakup with Mercedes Moné in their business relationship. Mercedes is flourishing since then. She’s done really well on her own. Kamille, we haven’t seen her since she was attacked and we’re not sure what that was and what that was about … When Kamille does return to get payback for that attack, it will be interesting to see who she goes after and what that was.”
There are many routes you could take with a Kamille return feud. The most obvious would be a run against Moné, her former leader. Khan was also pitched during the Battleground Podcast about a potential match between Kamille and Megan Bayne, who has become a frequent presence in AEW as of late.
“I do think that’s an interesting thought, for sure and something to keep an eye on,” Khan said about a possible Kamill and Bayne match. “That would be a great matchup.”
