David Finlay is coming after IWGP World Title.
There were 3,271 fans in attendance at City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka for the 2025 New Japan Cup final show. Headlining the night of action was David Finlay versus Shota Umino in the tournament final.
Neither man had won a New Japan Cup up until this point and it was David Finlay who was able to add that to his list of accolades.
He picked up the win over Umino in a 27-minute bout and then post-match, after celebrating his win, he picked Umino up off the mat and Finlay told him that it is his ring. He added that Umino has to be like him if he wants to get where he’s at. He then tapped Shota on the chest several times.
Finlay is now set to challenge Hirooki Goto for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Sakura Genesis on April 6th.
