A Dynamite Movie
The intro to the show had clips from the upcoming A Minecraft Movie and graphics throughout the show. You can use dynamite in the video game, and that’s where my Minecraft knowledge ends. I guess I’ll be more informed once I take my son to see it next week. Good job, AEW.
Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson) vs. Kenny Omega
There are Minecraft graphics throughout the ring area and screens, and I’ll be honest: I’m pretty disappointed Kenny Omega didn’t come out dressed as Steve, just like he did as Sans for Undertale. Despite having a tag team in Ring of Honor with EJ Nduka (LEEJ), he continues to be paired with Blake Christian on AEW. This is Christian’s second match on Dynamite, the last one being in May 2023, where he challenges for the Trios Championship.. Christian plays heel to the crowd as he starts trading offense with Omega on the apron. Omega comes back with a pair of Dragon Suplexes before dropping Christian onto his knee and the V-Trigger. Omega follows with the One-Winged Angel to get the quick win tonight.
Winner: Kenny Omega by pinfall at 4:52
Omega gets on the mic after and says he can’t wrestle every single week like he wants to, and he told Tony Khan he was going to make it quick here in Saint Paul. It’ll be a different story for Dynasty, as he has both Ricochet and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey. This prompts Bailey to make his way out and congratulate him and tell Omega that he’s an inspiration to him. Even though he respects him, he won’t hold anything back at Dynasty and won’t hesitate for a second when he gets the chance to kick his head off and take his International Championship. Before Omega can respond, he gets cut off by Ricochet on the screen, who says he can’t be there because of his wedding and calls it the best day of his life until April 6th, when he will win the championship. And at Dynasty, he will leave with both the gold and the girl. Omega says Dynasty isn’t about making friends, as he has a cat and doesn’t need any more. When it comes to wrestling, there’s only thing he has room for, the title around his shoulder, which is his legacy, and he calls both Bailey & Ricochet stepping stones to cement his legacy.
Mask Vs. Title Challenge
We go backstage to The Learning Tree, where Chris Jericho said he had Gravity’s mask taken from him at Collision. He says it’s time for all the masks to be removed. He starts yelling at Big Bill & Bryan Keith and asks them if they are still worthy to be with him, and tells them to go prove themselves to him for the last time. They leave. Jericho says he doesn’t want Gravity’s mask but Bandido’s mask and wants him to feel the same humiliation his brother did. He proposes his ROH World Championship against Bandido’s mask at Dynasty and asks if it’s worth making his mother cry again when Bandido loses his mask.
The Business of Hurting People
MJF makes his way to the ring, calls Prince a talentless hack, and says his words are worth more than anyone watching from home or any fan in attendance. He says to MVP that he’s been looking at his card for two weeks straight and invites him out so he can give him his answer. MVP gets a big chant from the crowd as MJF calls him a legend in professional wrestling. MJF compliments MVP’s cane and says when MVP clocks in, he doesn’t do friends but business. MJF says his decision is that he would like to be in the business of hurting people. Before MVP can respond, Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin make their way out as Lashley gets right in MJF’s face. Benjamin gets a big chant from this Minnesota crowd as Lashley tells MJF to give him the card back, which he does as Lashley rips it up in his face. MJF is confused as MVP says they are cool before MJF leaves the ring.
Bryan Keith & Big Bill make their way out, as Keith says it’s true about the hurt people, hurting people and says they aren’t here to join their group therapy session and have real business to attend to. MVP tells Bill to ‘get his bitch on leash’, as Bill says he can’t tell if MVP is a pimp and a businessman. MVP says he’s a bit of both and are about to make Bill & Keith bitches. A lot of bitch talk back and forth, before Bill reminds everyone that he was once a tag team champion but his ‘partner’ was the one who got pinned by Sting, then retired so he never got his rematch. Bill says he wants a title shot, so MVP tells them to actually win a match, and then they’ll give them an opportunity at the titles.
Thunder Tits
Renee Paquette is in the back with Toni Storm & Thunder Rosa, the former ‘ThunderStorm’, Storm says not much has changed, but Rosa says everything has changed. Rosa tells Storm she wants what she never lost and points at her championship belt before they pivot to their challengers tonight in Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne. Storm says they are now known as Thunder Tits. (Sii-note: Thunder Rosa already got her AEW Women’s World title rematch, funnily enough against Toni Storm at last year’s Dynasty.)
Brody King vs. Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis)
Kyle Fletcher attacks Brody King before the match and starts celebrating, but Brody is right there behind him to chop him down. Fletcher comes back by attacking Brody with stomps against the ropes. Brody takes control, sending Fletcher to the outside as we go to commercial. (Sii-note: the Don Callis cosplayer behind the commentary is spot on.)
When we return, they are fighting on the outside as Fletcher is sending Brody against the post and barricade, before hitting a running punt and a tope suicida as they both spill onto the floor. Fletcher follows with a top-rope elbow drop in the ring for two. Brody hits a scary-looking Exploder Suplex on Fletcher before they take it to the apron, where Brody hits a Death Valley Driver as they spill to the outside again, going back to commercial.
As we come back, Fletcher is kicking away before hitting a stalling Tombstone piledriver, but Brody kicks out at two. Brody hits a knee strike that makes Fletcher all loopy, but as Brody goes for the Cannonball in the corner, Mark Davis shows up to pull Fletcher out of the way. Fletcher follows by placing Brody on the top rope, but Brody fights him off. Davis distracts the referee as Fletcher rakes Brody’s eyes before hitting him with the turnbuckle Brainbuster to get the pin and the win.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher by pinfall at 17:48
Davis & Fletcher keep attacking Brody as Powerhouse Hobbs’s music hits, and he runs in from the crowd and helps Brody take out Fletcher & Davis as we go right into our next match. Before the match starts, we go to a commercial.
As we return, Don Callis joins commentary as we see Davis & Hobbs being kept back by security and Christopher Daniels before Aubrey Edwards gets them all cleared out of the ring to start the match. (Sii-note: One of the security guards was former NXT superstar Von Wagner!)
Mark Davis vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
They spend the first couple of minutes trading blows before Powerhouse Hobbs corners Mark Davis with blows and tries to powerslam him, but he stumbles a bit, giving Davis the advantage to come back. It doesn’t last long, as Hobbs catches him off the ropes with the spinebuster for the pin and the quick win.
Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs by pinfall at 2:35
Properly Execute A Plan
Lexy Nair is in the back with The Patriarchy sans Christian Cage, and she asks Nick Wayne what’s going on with him costing Cope the AEW World Championship. Wayne says he’s going to speak his thoughts when he’s face-to-face with Christian, but what happened last week is what happens when everyone is on the right page when you properly execute a plan.
After the break, Renee is with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and starts talking about him entering the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, but he gets interrupted by Swerve Strickland, who gets all up in Page’s face before Prince Nana pulls him away. (Sii-note: Swerve mentions his ruptured eardrum, which what was that left him unable to face Kenny King at this past weekend’s Chris Bey benefit show)
Rated FTR, Out
We go to a sit-down interview from earlier today from Tony Schiavone with Rated FTR. Dax Harwood starts by giving Cope & Cash Wheeler an apology for his actions last week. Harwood talks about them failing at getting the tag team titles, got him emotional before Cope says it wasn’t his intention to pull them away from the tag titles. Harwood says he just felt they took their eyes off the prize and were directionless for 4 months. Wheeler says he thinks they all let their emotions get the better of them and doesn’t want to see Cope & Dax be like this with each other. Cash says that without either one of them, he had nothing as Cope gave him a place to live when he needed it. He wants them all to be on the same page as Dax keeps apologizing, saying he took it too far, and now that they assisted Cope, it’s time for them to go after The Hurt Syndicate. Cash cuts him off and says he thinks that Rated FTR has a lot more left and wants to see if they can go after the Trios Championship, as Cope agrees and puts out the challenge to the Death Riders for Dynasty. Dax says, ‘Top guys out, ‘ before Cope says, ‘Rated FTR, out. ‘ Cash says that sounds better, and Dax reluctantly agrees.
Swerve Calls Out Mox
Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana make their way to the ring, as Swerve gets to the point and calls out Jon Moxley to join him in the ring. Moxley comes out by himself. Swerve gets in Moxley’s face and asks what happened to him and says Moxley used to be revered here in AEW, but now he hides behind the Death Riders. He says the reason Moxley hides the AEW World Championship in the briefcase is that he can’t look at himself with it over his shoulder anymore. Every time Moxley has a title defense, he narrowly escapes and asks him how his back is doing. Everything Moxley described himself as is the man that Moxley is looking at right now. We see Claudio Castagnoli behind Prince Nana on the outside as the crowd chants for Swerve’s House.
Moxley says that all sounds great, but this Dynasty is about ‘Swerve vs. Swerve’ and asks him who he is and what is he. Moxley says he knows exactly what Swerve could be. He’s had high hopes for him but has been disappointed, but at Dynasty will give him a chance to be everything he could be, but says Swerve will have to ask himself how far is he willing to go. Not just tonight and at Dynasty, but every day. He says Swerve hasn’t suffered enough yet, but he will suffer on April 6th as his sport has been taken over by billionaires and kids on Instagram, but it’s guys like Swerve who give him hope for the future. He doesn’t give handouts and asks how far Swerve is willing to go and says Swerve is the most dangerous man in AEW. Marina Shafir shows up on the apron with a crowbar, but Willow Nightingale is there to stop her, holding a lead pipe. Swerve says he is violence, and while Moxley bled pints, he bled buckets. While Moxley was in Texas Death Matches, Swerve won them. While he continues to lead the Dynasty era, Moxley can continue to play Jon Moxley on TV.
As the Death Riders start to leave, Marina pulls Willow off the apron and starts attacking her before Claudio pulls Marina off, and they leave through the crowd.
“Hey, Shibata, What’s Up?”
We go to The Opps in the back, as Katsuyori Shibata is said to be filming Samoe Joe & Hook. They see Max Caster talking to AR Fox & Top Flight about his catchphrase. As Caster notices Shibata and says what’s up, Joe creeps up from behind and chokes out Caster.
Collision Cowboy Challenge
Renee is in the back with Jay White, who says as of now we have both Will Ospreay & Adam Page in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament before White officially names himself as the third entrant. He says last year didn’t work out for him as he ended up getting injured, but this year he will win it and get an AEW World title shot at All In Texas. He puts out a challenge for this Saturday on Collision against anyone who wants to show up and state their case.
Top Flight (Darius Martin & Dante Martin) (w/ AR Fox) vs. Alex Findley & Devo Knight
Top Flight gets a huge reaction here in Minnesota, as we see CRU (Action Andretti & Lio Rush) in the crowd. Darius Martin and Alex Findley start the match, as we see Big Bill & Bryan Keith watching from the back. Top Flight starts double-teaming on Devo Knight, sending him to the outside before they go after Findley. Darius hits a flatliner on Findley, but Knight breaks it up before Dante Martin takes him out. They announce that Top Flight will take on Bryan Keith & Big Bill this Saturday on Collision. Dante hits a top-rope splash on Findley to pick up the pin and the win.
Winners: Top Flight (Darius Martin & Dante Martin) by pinfall at 2:55
We see a video on Will Ospreay, as they announce he will return on next week’s episode of Dynamite.
Mark Briscoe vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Don Callis goes and joins commentary again, as Konosuke Takeshita & Mark Briscoe start by running the ropes and dodging each other. Briscoe sends Takeshita into the corner with an enziguri before catching him off the top rope for a rolling Death Valley Driver. Briscoe continues with a big clothesline, sending Takeshita to the outside, but as he is about to dive onto him, Takeshita runs back in and takes Briscoe down with a big boot. Takeshita follows with a DDT onto the apron as we head to commercial.
We come back, as Briscoe is using his Red Neck Kung Fu on Takeshita in the corner as Taz is scolding Callis for calling that a ‘Judo chop’, saying there are no chops in Judo. Briscoe takes out Takeshita with a cannonball off the apron to the outside before hitting another cannonball dive on him. Briscoe runs the barricade and hits an elbow drop as Callis yells at him that this is not a street fight. Briscoe tries the Froggy Bow, but Takeshita gets out of the way before they start trading moves back and forth. Callis leaves the commentary and starts banging on the apron for Takeshita. They start trading suplexes before Takeshita hits the Power Drive knee, but he only gets a two. Briscoe comes back with the Jay Driller, but Takeshita gets his foot on the bottom rope during the pin. Takeshita comes back with a rolling elbow and the Raging Fire to get the pin and the win.
Winner: Konosuke Takeshita by pinfall at 11:39
Survive The Death Riders
We go to the Death Riders as Wheeler Yuta says he hates FTR, but Cope is the one who tried to manipulate him. Claudio Castagnoli calls Rated FTR pathetic as PAC says it’s arrogance that they find hard to stomach and they have the audacity to challenge them. That’s not how things work around here, so at Dynasty, it’s them that challenge Rated FTR to survive the Death Riders.
The Fourth Member
Alicia Atout tries to get a word with The Hurt Syndicate, but they excuse her away as Bobby Lashley asks what MVP was doing with MVP. MJF says they earned time off, but he doesn’t get time off. They have been talking about adding a fourth member for some time now, and he made a move. Lashley & Shelton Benjamin say they don’t like him and they can’t trust him. MVP says MJF’s qualities can do good for their business, and if they don’t want him in, they could revisit it at a later time, and it’s time to focus on this Big Bill situation.
Peneleope Pink & Megan Bayne vs. Thunder Rosa & Toni Storm (w/ Luther)
Megan Bayne & Thunder Rosa start the match, as Rosa tries a ‘Thunder Tits’ chant; we even have someone in the crowd with a sign for them. Rosa & Toni Storm start double-teaming on Penelope Ford, attacking her in the corner as Rosa leaps off of Storm’s back for a dropkick. Rosa stays in control of Ford as we head to a commercial at 9:59 pm.
We come back, as Ford & Bayne are attacking Rosa in their corner, but she’s able to escape and make the hot tag to Storm, who meets Bayne in the middle of the ring with a headbutt before clotheslining her to the outside. Storm sends Bayne into the steel steps before taking her out with a DDT. Back inside, Rosa starts kicking away at Ford and hits her with a Death Valley Driver. Bayne stops Rosa and hits her with Faith’s Descent, but Storm enters as they are the legal women. Storm trips Bayne in the corner and hits her with a hip attack, but Bayne sits up from that and brushes it off, leaving Storm stunned. Ford holds Storm, but Storm ducks as Bayne takes out Ford with a boot. Bayne follows with Faith’s Descent on Storm and gets the pin and the win.
Winners: Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford by pinfall at 9:33
