Saraya is expected to announce her exit from AEW later this week, per a recent report.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion will reveal her departure from the promotion on the premiere episode of Rulebreakers With Saraya, a new podcast debuting Thursday, per a recent story from Entertainment Weekly.
ET received quotes from the first episode of the show, where Saraya explained that she wouldn’t be working with the promotion in the near future.
“I’m here to tell you that me and AEW’s relationship has come to an end,” Saraya reportedly said. “I had an amazing time there. There’s no bad blood between us. I had such a magical time.”
Saraya reportedly goes on to explain that her decision to leave AEW has “nothing to do” with Tony Khan but instead stems from a feeling that there was nothing for her in the promotion at the moment. “Right now, there’s really no storylines where I would fit in,” she said.
Saraya also said she wouldn’t shut down a possible return to AEW sometime in the future.
Saraya made her return to wrestling in 2022 when she signed with AEW, coming back to the scene four years after wrapping up a WWE career as Paige.
She wrestled over two dozen times, including three different pay-per-view appearances for AEW. The biggest moment of her run emerged at AEW’s first-ever All In card in Wembley Stadium, where she won a four-way match to capture the promotion’s world title. She went on to drop the belt against Hikaru Shida two months later.
Saraya briefly led the “Outcasts” faction during her time in the promotion, fronting a group which also featured Harley Cameron, Toni Storm and Ruby Soho.
Saraya hasn’t appeared for in-ring action since October when she lost a #1 contender’s match on Dynamite. She’s still currently listed on AEW’s official roster page.
On her new podcast, Saraya will invite guests on and “explore their unconventional paths to success.” A pair of episodes will go live on the show’s feed tomorrow.
