The expected return to WWE for Rusev is getting closer.
Rusev (known in AEW as Miro) was seen at WWE’s headquarters in Samford, Connecticut on Wedneday and has reportedly inked a new deal with the company, per PWInsider.
The reported deal would bring Rusev back to a promotion he spent a decade in, going on a trio of runs as the United States Champion and making appearances at four different Wrestlemanias.
Rusev made the switch from WWE to AEW in 2020, debuting for the brand on an episode of Dynamite. He made 36 in-ring appearances during his time with the company, including a run with the TNT Championship, which lasted a solid portion of 2021.
Rusev wasn’t seen as much in AEW during his more recent years, most notably not appearing for any matches in 2024. It was reported last September that he asked for his release from the promotion.
By February, Miro was removed from AEW’s official roster page. He made his in-ring return later that month, facing Alberto Del Rio at Qatar Pro Wrestling’s Super Slam III show.
