Hirooki Goto defending IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Shota Umino at NJPW Windy City Riot

Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois is playing host to NJPW Windy City Riot on April 11th. The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match is official for the show.

In the main event of Sakura Genesis on April 5th, Hirooki Goto bested 2025 New Japan Cup winner David Finlay to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. 

Post-match, Goto addressed the title defense that is scheduled for Windy City Riot and then called out Shota Umino to be the challenger. The crowd initially booed Goto’s nomination and Umino himself.

Umino was in action earlier in the night at Sakura Genesis and defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi. Afterwards, he announced that he is leaving the Hontai faction.
