Karl Anderson: “When I saw people running up to The Rock backstage at Gorilla & ask for pictures… I was like, I gotta get out, this ain’t for me”

The Good Brothers give a preview of the return of their podcast.

The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) wrapped up with WWE for a second time as a duo when they were released in February.

They recorded a new episode of their Talk’n Shop podcast and promoted an upcoming May episode on which they’ll speak about their most recent runs at WWE and multiple stories from that time period. Topics they are going to touch on include addressing some things that did not 100 percent resonate with them from A.J. Styles’ interview with Chris Van Vliet.

Gallows and Anderson also brought up Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Anderson alluded to something happening that may have made him think less of Johnson. Gallows added that ‘corporate wrestling changes everything’ and there’s a lot that him and Anderson know that they should not know and it’s going to be fun to say those things.

Anderson: The Rock, with a sad face. I’m just gonna say this about The Rock and why I put the sad face. I’ll say all of this. I have to say this. The Rock was always on my Mount Rushmore. When I was in high school, I remember being just drawn to The Rock. I’ve always thought he was one of the most greatest performers of all-time. He’s obviously the greatest star in Hollywood. But, now that he’s clearly on the Board and he’s running the WWE, right? I mean, he does, basically… and the media. People are enamored by the guy. I think I put the sad face there because it’s clear. I’m hyping him up because… I have had him on a pedestal. Man, he was on Mount Rushmore. I would have put four Rocky’s on Mount Rushmore. But I put the sad face there because, how do I say this without giving it — maybe there’s a little disappointment, I guess, that it’s like, aw, I gotta talk — aw, now I gotta.

Gallows: I wanna talk a lot on May the 7th and the 8th and furthermore and expound upon it…

Anderson: I’m disappointed, man.

Gallows: It’s grown so big and it’s such a great thing to see it thrive and for it to be so, so healthy but, corporate wrestling changes everything. It really does… And you know, when corporate takes over in any facet of your life or your business, there are immense changes. Some massively positive, some maybe not. There’s a lot to be talked about there. There’s a lot of sh*t that we know that we probably shouldn’t and it’s gonna be fun to say it.

Anderson: I mean, I had him up on the Mount Rushmore. I had him on Mount Rushmore like three, four times, and maybe, just maybe he might be chiseled off that Mount Rushmore now. Maybe. Maybe there’s just a little bit of disappointment because I just saw — the business is so different now but I can’t expound on anything else.

Gallows shared that fellow performers messaged him about the Tiffany Stratton/Charlotte Flair segment on SmackDown and how they were taking personal jabs at one another. Gallows was trying to get it across to them that the exchange was scripted.

That led to Anderson mentioning how he was put off by seeing fellow performers going up to The Rock in Gorilla Position and asking him to take a photo.

Anderson: When I saw people running up to The Rock backstage at Gorilla and ask for pictures… in the Gorilla, in Gorilla! I was like, I gotta get out. This ain’t for me brah.

The two-time WWE Tag Team Champions went on to address those who they deem as ‘haters.’

Anderson: If you’re a fan of us, you’ll understand… we’re just entertaining you right now and what that’s gonna do is make people go, I can’t believe The Good Brothers said this about that guy. The Good Brothers are bad boys.

Gallows: F*ck The Good Brothers. I can’t believe they would have an opinion like that.

Anderson: And no wonder there’s rumors that they got fired.

Gallows: You’ve said this a couple of times but we’ve said it in our own — not our group texts. Our personal texts back and forth and it’s gonna be more than true now. We understand that we have haters. We know it. We embrace it.

Anderson: If you get over, that happens.

Gallows: That happens so, if you’re with us, you’re with us. If you’re against us, you’re f*cking against us and we’re against you too.

Anderson: And that’s incredible. Dude, you have to have people that don’t wanna be with you. I think that’s part of the problem is I’m very intuitive, right? When I’m walking through the hallway or I’m backstage somewhere —

Gallows: Or you’re sitting, having a meal, surrounded by your coworkers, your (fellow) performers.

Anderson: I think that’s what bothered so many people is that I’m not a lovable idiot. I understand what’s going on and I understand and I’m very aware of all these marks around me.

Gallows: You get to a point where you learn how to smile but that doesn’t mean you’re not intuitive and that doesn’t mean you haven’t been around this forever and that doesn’t mean you don’t know a bunch of sh*t that you’re not supposed to know and understand how it works.

Gallows and Anderson have not been in action since October 2024. They backend of their time at WWE was spent with the NXT brand.

On June 7th, they’ll be in a Steel Cage match for the All Star Wrestling promotion against the Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian).
