Finlay also spoke about the War Dogs’ approach to being different from past B.C. groups.

The War Dogs branch of BULLET CLUB primarily consists of David Finlay, Drilla Moloney, Clark Connors, Taiji Ishimori, Gedo and NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd.

Finlay is leading the group and he opened up about the overall team mindset to make themselves different from past iterations of BULLET CLUB. Finlay also addressed comparisons he faces against past leaders of the group. He said the following on Midnight Kingdom:

Yeah, my life has been nothing but comparisons. I get compared to my father, I get compared to the people I came up with in New Japan. Obviously, I’m gonna get compared to the BULLET CLUB leaders, which, you know, you’re in good company. You got Prince Devitt, A.J. Styles, Kenny Omega, Jay White and although, BULLET CLUB, when I took over, it was pretty close to their 10-year anniversary, I just felt like I wanted to do something different. I didn’t want to try and be anybody else. I wanted the War Dogs to be our own thing and I saw Gabe (Kidd) and Clark (Connors) and (Drilla) Moloney and Alex Coughlin at the time and it was just a group of guys that — especially the three L.A. Dojo boys. We had been through COVID. Took a lot of losses in trying to be successful in wrestling. So, we’re really just like-minded individuals of like, alright, this is our chance to finally make ourselves stars so, that was the whole goal. We knew it was gonna take time. We knew the fans were gonna be like, ‘They’re not the other leaders.’ But we never wanted to be like the past BULLET CLUB. We wanted to be our own thing.

Finlay is coming off of an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match loss. He fell in defeat to the champion Hirooki Goto at Sakura Genesis.

Next on the docket for Finlay is a singles match against Zack Sabre Jr. at NJPW Windy City Riot.
