A handful of notes and updates from the Beynefit show.
In late March, the Future Stars of Wrestling promotion presented a benefit show for Chris Bey. Bey suffered a neck injury in October 2024 that he has since undergone a successful surgery for. He’s opened up about the injury and his recovery as well.
The benefit show featured the likes of Swerve Strickland, Karrion Kross, Ricochet and there was an in-ring appearance from Bey himself to close the show and he spoke about his recovery and hopes for the future.
FSW promoter Joe DeFalco took to his DeFalco Files show and provided multiple updates from the fallout of the Beynefit. He stated that Karrion Kross was ‘banged up’ following his match against Hammerstone. Hammerstone gave Kross the Nightmare Pendulum maneuver but the rotation did not complete and Kross landed on his knees. DeFalco added that WWE I.D. talent Ice Williams was banged up as well.
Well, if you watch the Nightmare Pendulum, when he landed, his legs landed like this and that’s why I was talking about it like, ‘Oh my God, I thought he broke his f*cking legs.’ But, he was sore and I heard he was a little more sore on Monday. But he was fine, he was walking around. Little limp. But, you know, thankfully — plus Hammerstone got to redeem himself by giving the Pendulum to (Danny) Limelight, who took it like a champ. So, yeah, (Karrion) Kross is all good but yeah, he was pretty banged up after that. Ice Williams got banged up with his hand when he took the cutter from (Frankie) Kazarian and he landed, Frankie’s bodyweight landed on his hand. Obviously, you saw Ice continued the match. Hit his move. So, he was just banged up. So definitely people banged up after the match. But thankfully, haven’t heard of anything major at all so, thank goodness. Charity, benefit show and nobody came out of there in bad, bad shape.
Continuing on that front, there was a four-way bout that featured Jada Stone, Brittnie Brooks, Brooke Havok and Mazzerati. DeFalco shared that Stone competed with a broken big toe.
Jada Stone, who looked impressive (at the Beynefit for Bey) and by the way, she had a broken big toe in that match that she had hurt a couple days before.
He then went on to share that there were discussions held about WWE’s Natalya and Shotzi appearing at the show.
We were hoping maybe Natalya was gonna be there. But they had discussions. Shotzi was trying to be there.
One of the matches initially advertised was Brian Cage versus Rich Swann. Ricochet was slotted in as Cage was not able to compete. DeFalco revealed that the original plan was a three-way with those talents.
I always talk with Brian (Cage) and again, Brian makes a lot of money, works in, you know, AEW and it is what it is. So, Brian loves to wrestle. So, Brian loves to wrestle cool matches. So, when I was shocked to find out that Brian Cage was gonna be willing to do a show for free and then I got to work a guy like (Rich) Swann. The idea was gonna be Swann, Cage and there’s a tidbit, Ricochet was supposed to be the third guy in the Triple Threat match. But, Brian got hurt.
A video message was sent in by Rey Mysterio in which he showed love to Bey and wished him well going forward. DeFalco expressed that he wants Bey’s return match to be against Mysterio and he told both of them that.
He added that Swerve Strickland and Karrion Kross may take umbrage with that, but Mysterio has first dibs if Bey competes for FSW again.
I’m gonna say one thing that it is gonna be hard for me to believe that there will ever be a moment or a show for us that means more to me than the one we just had and actually, there is one and I told Chris (Bey) and I told Rey Mysterio, it is Chris Bey’s return match and I told Rey Mysterio… because I let him know that we got $1,000 for the mask and 450 for the other. He wanted it confirmed that I got the video. I said, ‘We played it. Everybody loved (it). Thank you Rey.’ I said, ‘But I’m letting you know right now, I am penciling you in for Chris Bey’s return match. Rey Mysterio versus Chris Bey.’ I may have to fight with (Karrion) Kross and (Swerve) Strickland. But, I’m sorry guys. Rey Mysterio has got first dibs.
Future Stars of Wrestling is going to be running a show on 4/18 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they’ll host matches from the WWE I.D. Championship tournament(s).
