Even before WWE, Moné had her eyes on Athena.

On the marquee for AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru is an Owen Hart Foundation tournament match that will see ROH Women’s World Champion Athena clash with TBS, NJPW STRONG and RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné.

The last time the two talents shared the ring together was when they were in WWE. They competed in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match in 2018.

Moné previewed the bout when she stopped past Toucher and Hardy. She called Athena one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all-time and said it’s one of her dream matches.

We are here (in Boston, Massachusetts) for two nights. Tomorrow night and Thursday for AEW Dynamite and Collision on Thursday for Spring BreakThru. I’m gonna be performing and wrestling against Athena who is the longest-reigning Ring of Honor Champion of all-time. She’s held this title for over 800 days. Insane, and she is one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all-time so I have goosebumps for tomorrow. It’s been one of my dream matches. Before I even made it to the WWE, I had my eyes on Athena. So this is something for me that I’m really, really excited for. 800 days is long enough. I have four titles and people say that’s enough. That’s too much. I think holding a title for 800 days, you’re holding that a little ransom but I’m about to slap some moné taste into her mouth tomorrow.

The winner of Moné versus Athena will advance to the final round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. The finals are taking place at Double or Nothing on May 25th.
