Athena has taken only a few non-AEW or ROH bookings over the past year, making some appearances in notable independent promotions like Prestige and REVOLVER. In fact, the upcoming booking is only her eighth independent appearance since she debuted for AEW in mid-2022.
She has most notably been the ROH brand’s top women’s talent for more than 600 days, having defended her title in big matches against Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata, Billie Starkz, and many others.
It isn’t known currently who she will meet in the ring.
Other additions to the show include El Phantasmo, QT Marshall, KUSHIDA, Gisele Shaw, and Raj Dhesi. The sole match announced for the show thus far is a clash between Josh Alexander and Konosuke Takeshita.
Maple Leaf Wrestling is the revival of a notable Canadian promotion which existed during the territory era of wrestling. It is the first major project from D’Amore since he suddenly departed TNA Wrestling earlier this year.
