It was not Marvel that took the role away from him.
Damian Priest is one month removed from his four-month reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion coming to an end. Present-day, he’s still aligned with Rhea Ripley and they are fighting against the new Judgment Day (Finn Bálor, Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, J.D. McDonagh & Carlito).
A sit-down interview with Priest was pushed out by Chris Van Vliet. As their conversation moved along, he revealed he was cast for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Priest shared that he was pulled, but it was not Marvel’s doing. He agreed with Van Vliet’s comment that the regime in WWE was different at the time.
It’s a long story (about what happened with me & the Black Panther film) but, basically, it got taken away from me. But, not from Marvel. Yeah (I had the role)… Exactly (the regime was different at the time). It’ll be cool (to get another opportunity). I’m ready. Well, it’s funny because now, I’m busier than ever. I’m good with it. Maybe I do something like that, I go a different route and I’m not sitting here with you as the World Champ. You know, being a World Champion, I won a World Championship at WrestleMania. I don’t know if that happens. So, look, and I said this before, I live a certain way now that I can’t look and regret. I can’t think about stuff that didn’t work out my way. I gotta think about what’s next and what else I can do positively for myself so, it didn’t work out. Not the end of the world. The movie was great though (he laughed).
Exactly (there’s no reason to live in regret). Especially when there’s so much positive to come. We don’t know. So there’s no point of being miserable over something that did or didn’t, but you can’t go back in time. At least not yet. Maybe one day.
Priest was in the main event of the 9/2 Monday Night Raw. He teamed with Jey Uso and they scored a win over World Tag Team Champions Bálor and McDonagh.
