** There’s an interview with Revolution Pro Wrestling owner Andy Quildan that was conducted by Markus Gronemann. Quildan credited NJPW’s Yota Tsuji for opening the door for the CMLL-RevPro partnership. He said CMLL has probably been their most enthusiastic partner.
The CMLL relationship came about when Yota Tsuji was actually on excursion. So New Japan, the next development in our New Japan relationship is they started sending wrestlers to excursion with us, and Yota Tsuji was one of the wrestlers who came. Even just post-pandemic Yota Tsuji, and as part of excursion – and he made it very clear he wanted to go to Mexico for his excursion. But when we were coming off COVID, Mexico was a lot — I guess it’s just a lot crazier than the UK. The U.K. kind of settled down before Mexico did and they made the decision to send Tsuji to the UK. But as a part of that, he was able to go Mexico for I think three months in the middle of his excursion before coming back to finish up here and in that time, they were asking him questions about RevPro, etcetera, and that’s when essentially, Tsuji opened that door for us and Tsuji was like, ‘Hey, can you speak to Okamura? He books the foreign talent for CMLL. He’s very interested in opening this relationship,’ and it was one of those things whereby, we couldn’t do anything instantly because again, we were suffering so bad from coming off of COVID. But it was something where we were like, ‘Yes. Let’s explore this in the future.’ Then that time came last year and CMLL have probably been the most enthusiastic partner we’ve had, and it’s great and we’ve seen what benefit that’s had for people like Michael Oku, Robbie X who’s just come back from CMLL.
** Taking to the stage at Bloomberg Power Players New York, on behalf of WWE, were Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman. Reigns was asked if it’s easier to be a babyface or a heel and here’s how he responded:
Well, the business is its most successful with me as a heel. But, the future looks bright so we’ll see, we’ll see. It’s much easier — I think babyface is an easier side to actually perform in. But, it’s so much more fun as a bad guy.
** The growth of Orange Cassidy’s on-screen character was discussed by Cassidy during an interview with Luke James Chats. Here’s what Cassidy had to say:
Which I think is great (laid-back style being part of my matches). I don’t know. I think I just followed the growth that I’ve had. You know, it is kind of strange when we talk about professional wrestling; stuff like, typically, you know a guy and you know him for five years. He does the same thing for five years and it’s fun, it’s good. But that’s not who we are as people and I think I, throughout my career, I had to grow, and I had to develop. I had to change along with the world, and I think it’s okay to show — maybe evolutions is probably the right word but, the growth of Orange Cassidy from standing around on the outside to actually getting in the ring and having to wrestle, and I think that’s interesting for fans. I mean, you don’t get to see it often. Not all the time but you do see a growth of a character, of a person and because we wrestle, I wrestle so, so much. I think I wrestle more than anybody else on the roster. But to see me every week, you know, and for what? Four years, five years. It’s good to see the growth because you could see it throughout the years and I think it keeps everybody engaged instead of bored.
** While guest appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Drew McIntyre looked back on receiving ‘The Chosen One’ nickname and dealing with the backstage jealously that arose from that.
Hmm, I guess in certain ways (I felt like the chosen one when I received the nickname). But, a lot of people did not like it backstage so I didn’t feel as much backstage with the professional jealousy that I didn’t realize how significant it was and the things that were being said. Then it was all out of jealousy and why is this kid getting this huge opportunity when I’ve been here for all these years? But, for the opportunities on TV, I certainly did, for a period and looking back, I know, obviously, I could have done things a little bit differently but at the same time, I just didn’t have those tools in my wheelhouse to do things differently and we all go through our journeys for a reason to end up at the final destination.
** CMLL World Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale appeared on CMLL Informa and stated that she believes there are plans for her to be back in the company beyond the 91st Anniversary Show. She said those plans have yet to be announced.
I believe that there are plans for me to come back again, beyond just Aniversario. But, there hasn’t been anything announced yet so we’ll just have to wait and see what the announcements say.
** A new interview is up on MuscleManMalcolm’s YouTube channel with K.C. Navarro. He spoke about joining A.J. Francis as a member of First Class at TNA Emergence.
Man, A.J. (Francis) I guess just saw what I was doing and I showed up back at IMPACT. I had the title match against Laredo Kid on Under Siege. Obviously, I beat him up pretty good, beat-up Laredo pretty good because the next time Laredo defended the title, he lost to AJ. So, he probably saw that I got some strength there, and then he probably saw how blessed I was. How when I went up against the NXT guy Dante Chen and the TNA guy Zachary Wentz which both were always down but the one guy that was never down in that match was the blessed guy, me. Even though I lost but, we’re not even gonna talk about that. I (was) still at Emergence anyway. I still made it there. It doesn’t matter. He saw how blessed I was, he gave me the call. They needed a new guy for First Class and they called the first class blessing, and here I am.

** ABEMA is going to be airing a new show on their channel titled ‘NOAH Time.’ It will showcase some of the promotion’s documentaries and their latest big matches.
