Buddy Matthews feels House of Black doesn’t have to split, can remain under umbrella but ‘do our own thing’

House of Black became the topic of conversation.

The group known as House of Black consists of Malakai Black, Brody King, Julia Hart and Buddy Matthews. Collectively, the group has brought in the AEW World Trios and TBS Championships since their final form was established at Double or Nothing 2022.

Matthews spoke about the group while partaking in a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest. He was asked where he sees himself in five years. Matthews responded to a comment about House of Black and feels they will not have to split in order for them to find success outside of the group.

I think with the House of Black… we don’t necessarily have to go down the same path as every other group where it disbands in a bad way. Like, where we can still be under the same umbrella but go and do our own thing. I think we’re very supportive, and whether it’s Brody (King) doing singles or all of us doing singles, as long as we’re still under the same umbrella, I think that that’s something cool and unique.

That’s one thing that isn’t up to us, if that makes sense (Matthews said about his singular presentation while part of House of Black). The House of Black is three individuals. Whether the individuals are put together and whatnot, that’s out of our control.

Hart is sidelined after undergoing shoulder surgery. As of this writing, her last match was at AEW Dynasty in April. Matthews, King and Black competed in tag matches on Rampage during the month of September.
