Go opens up about his injury.
In late July, Pro Wrestling NOAH pushed out the announcement that Go Shiozaki was being pulled from an upcoming show due to a back injury.
He’s been sidelined since then, but is scheduled to make his in-ring return on September 28th at the TEAM NOAH LIMIT BREAK show.
Going into the bout, Shiozaki did an interview with PKDX and opened up about the injury. He stated that he’s fine now, but had been dealing with back pain since June. He went to a doctor and a fracture was discovered. He added that ligaments around the fracture were inflamed.
During the beginning stages of his recovery, Shiozaki felt like he could not move. He went on to change his medication and made adjustments which led to his pain subsiding. He eventually got the green light from the doctor to return to the ring. Go said at points, it was tough for him to go about his everyday life.
Of course, I am fine now. I don’t know how it started, but my back had been hurting since June, and it got pretty bad right before N-1, so I went for a checkup and found that part of my spine was broken. At the same time, the ligaments around it were inflamed. At first, I was in a state that where I could barely move, but after changing my medication and making some adjustments, the pain finally subsided and the doctor gave me the go-ahead.
It wasn’t a life-threatening injury, so as the previous year’s (N-1 Victory) champion, I had no choice but to not compete (in the 2024 tournament). However, (Atsushi) Kotoge, who took my place, was also injured and ended up withdrawing midway through.
I couldn’t even go about my daily life, and I spent many days watching the N-1 tournament, which I had planned to win back-to-back, through the screen.
Like I said before, I’ve never had such a frustrating absence. I’m frustrated and hungry for excitement. Anyway, I’m going to make the LIMIT BREAK from my return match.
Go is going to be in tag team action at the LIMIT BREAK show. He’ll be teaming with Atsushi Kotoge, Muhammad Yone and Akitoshi Saito to face Jun Akiyama, Yukio Naya, Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Harutoki.
