You Work For Me Now

The show starts with highlights of the ending of WrestleDream with commentary from Jon Moxley leaving the arena talking about hating what AEW has become, with egos being out of control and celebrating when there is no need for celebration, and he can’t stand it anymore. Moxley talks about doing what has to be done; they can see a better future and make it happen. If you want to come with them, you can, if you don’t, run while you can, stand down while you can, and tell them to get out of the way. What’s the need to know for those in AEW? He asks what the new paradigm is, and that is what you work for now as we see he was talking to Wheeler Yuta.

Adam Cole Hates MJF

Adam Cole heads to the ring after his return at WrestleDream. Cole tells the rest of The Undisputed Kingdom that he loves them, but that he has to do this on his own. He talks about being so damn happy, but they would rather him talk about MJF and says that life is filled with shades of grey. Cole talks about how without trust you have nothing and says there might be a lot of things but stupid is not one of them, and you shouldn’t trust someone like MJF. He says that is the real MJF, the one who has terrorized this company for 5 years, and pretends to say he cares about AEW when all he cares about is himself. He says everything about MJF is fake, including his hair which took two surgeries. MJF is a scared insecure, little boy and tells everyone in this arena or at home to go and trash MJF, he will pretend he doesn’t care when in reality he’ll be crying in his hotel room. He continues that MJF is a phony and can’t be trusted, and everybody in that locker room is smiling and agreeing. Cole continues talking about the locker room being hungry and will carry AEW to the future. The path that MJF is on is nothing but failure and loneliness and he thinks that he’s someone special and the best there’s ever been in AEW, but he swears that everybody hates him. He hates everything about MJF and suggests fighting there right now in San Jose.

MJF’s music plays, but he doesn’t come out as we then cut to a video of MJF. MJF says he’s learned a lot and as a multi-millionaire, there’s been a lot of gain. Learning the hard way that there’s no such thing as trust and there are jackals in professional wrestling, waiting for you to trip so they can chew them up and spit them out. Cole tricked him and stabbed him in the back, leaving a void in him forever and he will never trust again. The man he is today isn’t his fault, but Cole’s, and this void he made is his. He tells Cole he will never get him in the ring and he will die with a void of unfilled vengeance and for that empty sad cold little life, he can thank him later. Cole says that MJF can run but he can’t hide and he promises him when he gets his hands on him he will give him the ass beating of a lifetime and wish that they never met.

Ladder War

We go to footage after WrestleDream, where Renee Paquette was with Chris Jericho after his match Jericho says he feels vindicated as this is the week of Chris Jericho co-starring in the #1 movie in America in Terrifier 3.  He was supposed to be the ROH World Champion, but Mark Briscoe cheated to win that match, he wants his rematch and anxiously awaits his response and he will become a two-time ROH World Champion, just like Jay Briscoe. We go live with Renee with Briscoe who says Jericho is known to say a lot of dumb stuff and because Jericho keeps mentioning Jay, he will have his match, and next week on Dynamite they will have a Ladder War match for the ROH World Title, but tonight let the ass whooping commence as FTR walk into the picture ahead of their match.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Bryan Keith & Big Bill

Dax Harwood & Bryan Keith start the match, with Keith taking down Dax first with a lariat and a big boot, before keeping him in the corner with chops. Dax fights right back, before tagging in Cash Wheeler who scud missiles inside for a two. Big Bill tags in but gets ping-ponged back and forth by FTR, before Keith joins in and gets taken down as well. Bill comes right back with a Bossman Slam on Cash as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we come back, Dax is fighting off both Keith & Bill before Cash joins in to take them out as Paul Turner has no control in this tag match. Bill blocks a Shatter Machine attempt and takes out Dax with a powerbomb before clotheslining Wheeler to the outside. Keith joins in and hits the Diamond Dust on Dax, followed by the big boot from Bill but Wheeler runs in to break up the count. Bill & Wheeler fight on the outside, before joining back in the ring as they hit the Shatter Machine on Keith as Wheeler gets the pin and the win.

Winners: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) by pinfall at 8:23

We see LFI (sans Jake Roberts) in the back watching on before FTR’s music stops as The Outrunners come out and join FTR in the ring to do the handshake with them before they do a pose-off.

Doing Business With The Acclaimed

We go back to “The Remarkable” Renee Paquette who is with The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn and asks them what’s next after their win over MxM Collection at WrestleDream. Gunn says they are going to go to the gym (so why are they there?) Gunn then goes and gets the car started. Max Caster says they are the winningest team in AEW history, and now they want more and more, as MVP and Shelton Benjamin interrupt them and tell them when they are ready to be serious to give him a call and hand them their card. Anthony Bowens says they don’t need anything from them, as Caster is seen putting the card in his pocket.

AEW TBS Championship: Mercedes Mone’ (c) (w/ Kamille) vs. Queen Aminata

Right away, Kamille takes a swipe at Queen Aminata’s leg as Mercedes Mone’ takes advantage and goes after her. Aminata comes right back by taking Mercedes down and rubbing her butt in her face before mocking her dance. They go back and forth with roll-up attempts before Aminata catches Mercedes on a crossbody attempt and sends her back with a fallaway slam. Kamille pulls Mercedes out of the way as Aminata is trying to attack her before Aminata takes out Kamille with a headbutt. Mercedes trips Aminata into the steel steps and smashes into her with her knees as we go to picture-in-picture.

We come back to see them exchanging pins before Aminata catches Mercedes off the corner into an Air Raid Crash for two. Aminata stays in control, hitting a spinning neckbreaker for two. Aminata starts twisting up Mercedes before rolling her around and around before getting a two. Mercedes stops Aminata in the corner with her knees followed by a backstabber and the Statement Maker as Aminata taps out.

Winner: Mercedes Mone’ by submission at 8:41, to retain

That Doesn’t Work For Us, Brother

Renee is in the back with Private Party & the Young Bucks, as Private Party congratulates them but says they were very close to beating them before asking for another shot at the titles. Matthew Jackson says they took them to their limit but with all that being said, the rematch doesn’t work for them and that was their last chance. Stokely Hathaway walks in and says Private Party could have had him in their corner and next they challenge and lose, Private Party is done and says everyone knows Isiah Kassidy is the singles star anyway, and walks off. Kassidy says if that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes.

Happy Birthday, Kenny!

After the break, we go back to The Young Bucks who are with Jack Perry & Kazuchika Okada, as Perry says today is a special day because it is Kenny Omega’s birthday. Perry talks about Omega having 20 feet of intestines removed and reveals a Happy Birthday Kenny cake that they then dump intestines on top of. Okada says ‘Happy birthday, bitch’, as Perry says Omega can die, he doesn’t care.

The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly & Rocky Romero) vs. The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson & Kazuchika Okada)

Kyle O’Reilly and Kazuchika Okada start the match, as commentary reminds us that O’Reilly challenged Okada for the Continental Championship, but got denied. The Young Bucks and Orange Cassidy quickly get involved as O’Reilly & Orange start double-teaming The Elite until Rocky Romero joins in on the fun. They send The Elite to the outside where they all take turns on them with dives before we go to picture-in-picture.

We come back to see O’Reilly take down Okada before the Bucks join in and go after him, as Rick Knox doesn’t seem to care about tags. Okada takes advantage of an assisted elbow drop from Matthew Jackson, getting a two count before sending O’Reilly into the corner where The Elite hit a triple-team kick but Romero is there to break up the pin attempt. Okada takes out Romero with a Tombstone before tagging out to Nicholas Jackson who immediately tags out to Matthew as they hit a double team back elbow on O’Reilly before pumping up their Reeboks. O’Reilly questions what they are doing and just tags out to Orange who leaps over them and takes Okada off the apron before taking out the Bucks with a double hurricanrana followed by Stundog Millionaire on Okada. Everybody else joins in next. Cassidy goes to hit the Orange Punch but gets attacked by Wheeler Yuta causing the disqualification.

Winners: The Conglomeration (Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy & Rocky Romero) by disqualification at 9:12

The Cost Of Doing Business

PAC & Claudio Castagnoli join Yuta in beating down The Conglomeration, with PAC using a case to choke out O’Reilly. Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir join the ring as they all start stomping out on Cassidy. Top Flight & Action Andretti runs out to stop them, but they all get taken out including Shafir choking out Darius Martin, before Moxley takes him out with the Death Rider. The Elite watches on from the ramp, as The Dark Order runs past them asking how they are letting this happen. Jack Perry walks out to take the rest of The Elite to the back. Shafir starts choking out Alex Reynolds with a belt against the ring post as PAC & Claudio set up steps by him. Moxley says if anyone is involved with All Elite Wrestling, you are under attack as PAC & Claudio drive the steps into Reynolds. Moxley says this is just the cost of doing business before leaving back out through the crowd. Daniel Garcia, Christopher Daniels & Private Party run out after to check on everybody who was taken out.

We cut to The Elite in the back as Arkady Aura tries to ask how they let this happen. They say it’s none of this business, as Daniel Garcia & Private Party get in their face asking how they are going to let this happen. Perry & Garcia get into each other’s faces before The Elite walks off. Garcia tells Private Party that it looks like things are going to get crazy here, but he has their back if they have his.

Lio Rush (w/ Leila Grey) vs. Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP)

Shelton Benjamin gets a good reaction for his debut here, as right away he pushes Lio Rush down into the corner. Rush uses his speed to dodge Benjamin until he gets taken back down with a shoulder tackle. They take it to the apron, where Rush kicks Benjamin off and tries to dive onto him but gets stopped with a knee strike. Benjamin continues attacking Rush on the outside as we go to picture-in-picture.

We come back, as Rush stuns Benjamin off the ropes, before running the ropes and sending Benjamin to the outside where he meets him with a couple of topes. Back inside, Rush stops Benjamin with a cutter, and heads to the top rope but misses the frog splash. They go back and forth before Rush hits a spinning DDT for two. They head to the top, where Benjamin takes Rush down with an arm drag followed by a German Suplex. Benjamin stays on top before taking out Rush with a flatliner followed by a power slam to get the pin and the win.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin by pinfall at 11:00

MVP puts his business card in Rush’s tights and gets on the mic saying that Rush opened up his mouth but Benjamin closed it. MVP says he can make a statement about what’s next, but Benjamin already made one. MVP tells Swerve Strickland that he knows he’s watching and wants him to know that he needs to reconsider his position because this is his future. MVP says they should finish the conversation that they started at WrestleDream and proposes Swerve takes on Benjamin.

Excalibur says since the events of WrestleDream, they haven’t been able to contact Darby Allin but cuts to footage of a special announcement that was recorded before WrestleDream. Allin says that signed 8×10’s of him and Tony Hawk go on sale today at Shop AEW.

Swerve Accepts

After the break, we cut to Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana, Swerve says it was impressive what Shelton Benjamin did with Lio Rush and he accepts his challenge for anywhere and will make it happen.

The New Don Callis Family

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out Don Callis who comes out with Lance Archer and Brian Cage, who looks to be a new member of the Don Callis Family. Callis starts by saying since they’ve had such a great week, they should have a press conference but since there’s no such thing as real journalists in wrestling, he will answer his own questions. Callis says he wants the tag titles and there are no better guys to take them than Cage & Archer before he brings out Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita. Callis says Takeshita is going to go to every corner of the globe to defend the International Championship, as Takeshita gets on the mic and speaks Japanese before saying he will defend the title all over the world and tells all the wrestlers if they want his belt to come and take it. Fletcher gets on the mic and says all that he has heard is ‘Why, Kyle, Why?’ and says that’s the problem as everybody wants to talk about Will Ospreay when the Don Callis Family is having their biggest night in history. Fletcher says ‘too bad’ to those who want to know why he did what he did. Callis says the Don Callis Family has never been stronger than today.

Why Is Everyone Afraid Of Mariah May?

Renee is in the back with Mariah May, who is upset why the journalists couldn’t ask her a question at the press conference, why everybody is talking about Willow Nightingale, why Toni Storm is on the cover of PWI 500, and asks where everyone is. She says Britt Baker has strep throat and Thunder Rosa is in the UK and says everyone is afraid of her. Anna Jay steps in and gets in her face but accidentally slaps Christopher Daniels in the scuffle.

They announce that Swerve Strickland will take on Shelton Benjamin in two weeks at Fright Night Dynamite.

Ricochet Is Out Of This World

Renee is in the back with Ricochet and asks if he was too focused on Will Ospreay at WrestleDream. Ricochet says that Konosuke Takeshita beat Ospreay, and he hasn’t been pinned since stepping foot in AEW. Ricochet says your matches dictate who’s the best in the world and you don’t need lackies doing your dirty work for you and says he will be on Collision this Saturday and says he will show Takeshita why he is ‘out of this world’.

Everybody Wants A Piece Of The BCC

We cut to the back where Moxley and his crew are still fighting with Dark Order & Top Flight, as PAC is taking them out with the briefcase. They take them all out before leaving in a truck, as John Silver chases after them. Evil Uno challenges the Blackpool Combat Club and says whether it’s Saturday, Wednesday, or in a parking lot they will fight them. They send the camera to Top Flight, who says they are coming for them this Saturday on Collision.

Jay White (w/ Juice Robinson & Colten Gunn) vs. Christian Cage (w/ Nick Wayne & Mother Wayne)

They start the match slow trading shots in the corner, before Jay White takes Christian Cage down with a big back elbow. White stays on top of Christian, as Juice Robinson is playing with the crowd. Nick Wayne grabs a chair, but as Juice & Colten Gunn go take it away, the referee catches them with it and ejects Juice & Colten. They attack Wayne and drag him to the back with them, with Mother Wayne chasing them as we go picture-in-picture.

When we return they are fighting on the outside as Excalibur runs down matches for Rampage, Collision & next week’s Dynamite, which will be listed below. Back inside, White sends Christian into the corner and attacks him with ten punches before transitioning into chopping away at him. White hits a DDT and gets a two, with Christian barely kicking out. Christian whips White into the ropes before sending him crashing down onto the apron with a reverse DDT. Christian stays on top and sets up for the spear, but Kip Sabian gets on the apron and distracts him as White is able to dodge it. We see ‘Hangman’ Adam Page hiding ringside, as Christian takes out White on the ropes. White hits a uranage for a two-count. Christian blocks the Blade Runner and hits the Killswitch, but White kicks out at two. White places Christian on the top rope, but gets pushed off as Christian hits a diving headbutt for two. They pretty much redo the spot from earlier with Sabian distracting the referee as Page magically reappears and takes out White with the Buckshot Lariat as Christian gets the pin and the win.

Winner: Christian Cage by pinfall at 16:13

FINAL THOUGHTS

A lot of WCW-style beatdowns in the ring and in the back from the new Blackpool Combat Club, but the important part is they kept the focus for Collision this Saturday, which they rarely do. Good focus overall on building up the cards for the next couple of weeks.
