A look into YOH’s mindset.
Prior to NJPW’s King of Pro-Wrestling event, a livestream started on the NJPW WORLD YouTube channel and it featured YOH making his way to the ring.
Inside an empty Ryōgoku Sumo Hall, YOH announced he was cleared to return after being sidelined due to a dislocated shoulder and labrum damage. On the New Japan Pro-Wrestling YouTube channel, there’s a video piece about YOH and he explained his mindset behind returning the way he did.
I didn’t want to do the usual coming back from injury promo. I decided on subtraction. I wondered what it would be like to do something like that with no people there. I went home while I was off and found a copy of (Antonio) Inoki’s poetry book I’d bought as a teen. ‘Be Stupid,’ it’s called, and I kinda got it. I got the message that he was putting across and it helped me settle on something within myself. That’s what you saw. It’s rock and roll, right? Bringing something of worth out of something not done before.
The five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion is currently competing in the Super Junior Tag League alongside Rocky Romero. As of this writing, they have four points in the B block.
