Vince McMahon could be staging a comeback to resume his professional career while marred in scandal and litigation.
Mike Johnson at PWinsider.com reports that the ex-chairman of WWE is attempting to launch an “entertainment hub company” with an emphasis on developing and producing TV and film projects.
McMahon was named alongside John Laurinaitis and WWE in a civil suit filed by Janel Grant this January alleging she was sexually assaulted and trafficked during her time working at WWE.
McMahon had to resign from his position at TKO following the lawsuit with McMahon liquidating a significant portion of his stock after exiting the company. The 79-year-old still controls over eight million TKO shares, which is the equivalent of less than 5% of the company.
Grant and her legal team allowed for a “stay” in the case to allow for a federal investigation to be conducted, which expires on December 11.
Johnson and PWinsider add that former WWE staffers Brad Blum and Kristen Prouty are attached to the upstart company, although no roles are outlined.
Blum began working at WWE in 2006 and climbed the ladder to become McMahon’s chief of staff. After McMahon “retired” in July 2022, Blum temporarily left the company before returning after McMahon staged a comeback months later.
After the WWE-UFC merger to form TKO, Blum became its Chief Operating Officer but submitted his resignation this past May.
In our reporting for Front Office Sports, it was confirmed that Blum was “Corporate Officer No. 2” in the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis & WWE. In the complaint, Corporate Officer No. 2 was listed as a key lieutenant of McMahon and was instrumental in Grant’s hiring in 2019, although the complaint doesn’t accuse Blum of being aware of any alleged acts of sexual violence or cruel and degrading treatment.
Prouty worked at WWE from 2005 until this past May where she became its Senior Vice President of Entertainment Relations.
Johnson reports that the company would be based out of Los Angeles.
